Paley Live Series - Walking and Talking: An Evening with The Walking Dead: Dead City

The Paley Museum presented the latest selection of its acclaimed PaleyLive series, Walking and Talking: An Evening with The Walking Dead: Dead City in New York City last April 30.

Ahead of the show’s season two premiere on May 4, the highly anticipated evening featured a special preview of the first episode of the new season. It was followed by a discussion with Scott M. Gimple, executive producer and chief content officer of the Walking Dead Universe. Stars of the show included Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Negan”), Lauren Cohan (“Maggie”), Gaius Charles (“Perlie Armstrong”), Kim Coates (“Bruegel”), and Dascha Polanco (“Col. Lucia Narvaez”).

Morgan and Cohan also serve as Executive Producers of the hit series.

The discussion was moderated by Josh Wigler.

Highlights from the discussion included:

Gaius Charles shared a laugh with the crowd as he recalled learning from Lauren Cohan that, “We don’t say zombies here, we say Walkers.”

Lauren Cohan grew emotional while discussing the new season, reflecting on the way season two was crafted, describing its themes as “so beautifully cobwebbed.”

Kim Coates joked that in the first episode of season two, his eyes did all the talking.

Lauren Cohan spoke about making her directorial debut this season, calling it one of the best experiences of her career—and one of the most challenging of her life. Jeffrey Dean Morgan praised her work, saying he was incredibly impressed with how outstanding she was.

Dascha Polanco remarked that being in The Walking Dead universe felt even scarier than the prison system in Orange Is the New Black.
